27th CT Middle School State XC Championship

​Meet Information:

Coaches of Connecticut and their middle school teams are invited to participate in the 27th CT Middle School State XC Championships starting at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 2, 2019. The meet is open to all Connecticut middle school coaches and their athletes competing with their middle school team in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The meet is also open to Connecticut Club teams and individual participants for middle school athletes in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Note that Club teams are not eligible for team scoring and team awards.


  • The meet will be held at the Wickham Park course in Manchester CT, the site of the CIAC High School Cross Country Championships.
  • Parents and coaches should try to carpool to help reduce traffic in Wickham Park. Please try to arrive two hours prior to race time.


  • Timing and results provided by Last Mile Racing. The finish line management and meet timing services has been contracted with Last Mile Racing of Willimantic CT.
  • Chip timing with the chips imbedded in the bibs are used for this meet. Every athlete competing must have an assigned race number bib to participate.

Registration Deadlines:

  • A completed Intent to Enter form is required for registration and is available from the Meet Registration page at this website. The Intent to Enter deadline is 7:00 pm Eastern, Friday, October 18, 2019.
  • Athletic.net Meet Event Entry for Boys and Girls available starting on 9/9/2019 for coaches who have previously submitted an Intent to Enter form. Entries will not be accepted without a completed Intent to Enter form.
  • Deadline for Athletic.net Meet Event Registration is 7:00 pm Eastern, Friday October 25, 2019.
  • There are no late entries or day of meet entries.

Entry Procedures and Limits:

  • EZ Meet Services manages all meet registration in association with Athletic.net system. There are no late entries or day of meet entries.
  • Important Note: Due to park rules, the 'B' Races are limited to 15 runners for Boys team and 15 runners for a Girls team for each school or club.
    Teams with both A and B race entrants can enter a maximum of 22 runners (A Race: 7 runners, B Race: 15 runners).

Basic Entry Procedures:

  1. On the Meet Registration page, follow instructions to complete the required Intent to Enter form to provide contact details for meet updates.
  2. Club and Individual participants only are required to submit a signed copy of the 2019 Liability Waiver prior to participation. Click to view/print: 2019 Liability Waiver (Adobe PDF required)
  3. After you have acquired a valid Athletic.net account for your Middle School team or individual, make sure to add or change your roster of Athlete Name and Grade for each boy and girl you want to participate in the meet.
  4. At the Athletic.net XC 2019 Calendar page, select the 27th CT Middle School State XC Championship meet:
    A. On the Athletic.net Meet page, Select Register,
    B. Select an event for each of your boys and/or girls names with the appropriate Race Event. (see SPECIAL Athletic.Net NOTES below)
    C. You can change between the Register Athletes screen and viewing the Finalized Entries screen as many times as you need during the entry process. When satisfied with your entries, PRINT the Finalized Entries page of athletes. Remember that you have until the final entry deadline to make any last-minute changes.

SPECIAL Athletic.net NOTES:

While in Athletic.net, after entering team roster, coaches of Middle School teams and Club Teams will continue to the Athletic.Net Meet Registration form to register names of ALL their athletes according to the 2019 Team Assignments for East-West Divisions chart also posted on the Meet Registration page.

  • Your team or individual is either a Middle School or a Club Team or Individual, is either East or West geographic region of CT according to Team Assignments for East-West Divisions chart and your athlete is either a Boy or a Girl.
  • Make sure to enter ALL your athletes into an event since every athlete receives a bib number.
  • You can decide on race day who runs in the A or B races.

Entry Fees - Checks:

  • Teams & Clubs: The entry fee is $10.00 per athlete with a cap of $220.00 per school.
    Unattached Individual Entries: The entry fee is $20.00 per athlete.

    Coaches are responsible for printing their Athletic.net Invoice to serve as their official meet invoice using the Athletic.net option after entries are completed. Do not send email requests for a meet invoice.

Meet Rules:

Coaches, please pay special attention to the following:

  • Important Note: Due to park rules, the 'B' Races are limited to 15 runners for Boys team and 15 runners for a Girls team for each school or club.
    Teams with both A and B race entrants can enter a maximum of 22 runners (A Race: 7 runners, B Race: 15 runners).

Please have your athletes to the start line at least 10 minutes before the start of your race.

  • We will be using chip timing with the chips imbedded in the bibs.
  • Please assign the correct race number with chip to the correct athlete. Every athlete competing must have a race number. Substitutions may be made up to 9:30am.
  • You do not have to designate your top seven runners.
  • Any seven runners from your start list may compete in the 'A' race.
  • You are not required to enter the 'A' race.
  • Use your discretion when entering your runners.


  • The top 50 finishers in each race will receive medals.
    Medals may be picked up at the Awards table as soon as each race is declared official. Participant ribbons will be given to runners as they leave the finish area.
  • LARGE and SMALL School Class Awards: The top 5 teams in both Small and Large Classes of the A-Races will receive trophies. No team scoring in 'B' races. Does not apply to Club Teams since they are not eligible for the team awards
  • Ribbons are awarded to all other finishers.


  • Three athletic trainers will be on site during the meet. An ambulance will also be on site.
  • Please note- All non-life-threatening injuries should be treated by the athletic trainers at the finish line. EMTs are available for life threatening injuries only. Once the EMTs get involved, the parent/guardian/coach designee must accompany the athlete to the hospital for release. All asthmatics must carry their inhaler with them during the race. A simple waist pack or wrist band is appropriate.

  • Admission to Wickham Park is $10.00 per car. Please share with parents. We are encouraging carpooling to help prevent further cuts by the park to the number of athletes allowed in the "B" races.
  • Food, drinks, candy will be available.
  • Long sleeve t-shirts will be available for $25.00.
