| As posted on 11/17/2020 at the CIAC website, "The CIAC Board of Control acted this morning to postpone all winter
sports to January 19, 2021. The CIAC Board of Control will continue to
collaborate with the DPH, Governor Lamont’s office, and the CSMS Sports
Medicine Committee in the weeks leading up to the January 19th start of winter practices. CIAC Interscholastic athletics are an education-based experience that
maintains in-person learning and the health and safety of our school
communities as our top priority. Today’s action supports our member
schools while they continue to manage rising COVID numbers within their
communities and experience widespread movements to distance learning. |
| Dear Coach/AD, After much thought and research, I have regretfully decided to cancel the CT Middle School Cross Country Championship scheduled for November 7. Wickham Park is not allowing any large events this fall. Safety of staff, athletes, coaches, and spectators can not be guaranteed under the pandemic conditions in which we exist. As a retired teacher and coach, I feel for all of you that are going to work in our schools under so much uncertainty and hope that you and your families come out of this healthy and safe. If there are any of you that would like to try organizing regional meets (recommended by CIAC), and need some advice, feel free to contact me any time. I look forward to a successful vaccine and a return to a "normal" spring of track and field. The meet was originally scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2020 and continuing Saturday, May 9, 2020. The message from Meet Director A.J. LaPlant of East Hartford HS to cancel the meet should come as no surprise as the updated directive to keep schools closed until May 20 was announced earlier today. | Meet Director Dave Tetlow welcomes coaches and their high school teams from the list of invited schools to participate in the Ledyard Relays Invitational starting at 3:30pm on Friday, April 24, 2020 and continuing at 9:00am on Saturday, April 25, 2020 AT FITCH HIGH SCHOOL in Groton CT. The Ledyard Relays offers Varsity and Junior Varsity athletes a unique opportunity to compete with their teammates in the many relay events on the track and on the field. Invited coaches must start their meet registration by submitting the required Intent to Enter form on the Meet Registration page so that they can proceed with their event entries in Athletic.net! - 2020 Invited Schools include: Bacon Academy, Berlin, Daniel Hand, East Lyme, Fitch, Griswold, Killingly, Ledyard, Lauralton Hall, Lyman Memorial, Middletown, Montville, New London, Old Saybrook, Plainfield, Sacred Heart Academy, Saint Bernard School, Sheehan, Tourtellotte Memorial, Waterford, Woodstock Academy.
